Making sure your kids are up and ready to get to school on time can be a struggle in itself, but couple that with the fact that you want to make sure your kids are going to school with some healthy food in their lunch boxes it can be a real struggle.
It’s important for children to have a healthy lunch while they are at school because it will help them to concentrate on their work and give them the energy they need throughout the day. That’s why a great deal of parents choose to give their kids a packed lunch instead of letting them have the somewhat controversial school dinners!
The problem is, it can be difficult to come up with new and exciting lunch box ideas that your kids are going to enjoy. So, to help you out, here are a few ideas to give you some inspiration.
- Hummus with veg (celery, pepper, carrot or cucumber) and wholemeal pitta sticks
- Frittata fingers
- Turkey and salad wraps
- Wholemeal bagel with cream cheese and smoked salmon
- Pasta salad
- Tuna salad
- Cheese, crackers and ham (not the processed kind)
- Egg muffins
- Chicken or Turkey salad
- Chicken, avocado and quinoa
- Carrot and courgette fritters
- Couscous salad
- Tuna salad in wholemeal pittas
The best option for a lot of these ideas is to do some batch cooking at the weekend or cook them off the night before, that way the kids lunch boxes are ready to go in the morning. That’s one less thing to worry about with the mad morning rush!
