Me and my other half both work full time so it can be a real struggle to make sure we are all eating healthy food during the week. It can be all to easy to say, “oh lets just have a takeaway tonight” because the thought of cooking after a long day at work just seems like too much hassle.
But it doesn’t have to be like that. There is an easy way to make sure the whole family is eating delicious and fresh food everyday.
The answer is Batch Cooking!
Batch cooking is a fantastic way to take the pressure of cooking healthy meals during the week. You can set out the meals you are going to have each day, then just reheat whenever you want it.
It can take a while to get all of your batch cooking done but just think of the time you will save in the long run. All you need to do is set aside a couple of hours over the weekend and you will really appreciate it when you get in from a hard days work and are able to get a healthy, delicious homemade meal ready in next to no time.
There are so many different things you are able to batch cook, from stews to curry’s, pasta sauces to soups. Another great thing about batch cooking is the fact you can portion up each meal before you put it in the fridge or freezer and then It is ready to go whenever you are!
An important thing to remember though, is to make sure you write the date on each thing you cook, that ensures that you will get things eaten before they go bad.
A great tip for when you are portioning things up for the freezer is to use freezer bags instead of tubs or containers, especially for soups or sauces. This way you can store them flat and it will take up much less room in your freezer.
